Mortgage Loan Originator Job Summary

This position is responsible for increasing the Bank's mortgage loan portfolio by developing business contacts, attracting mortgage customers, and assisting with the completion of mortgage loan processing and closing.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Achieve mortgage loan sales through business development to current and prospective customers;
  • Attract new mortgage loan applications by developing relationships within the community, specifically with the real estate community and making sales calls to prospective customers;
  • Recommend approval of mortgage loans by examining application and supporting documentation;
  • Assist with the completion of mortgage loans by monitoring collection, verification, and preparation of mortgage loan documentation;
  • Implement production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards through resolving problems and identifying mortgage loan system improvements;
  • Develop and maintain ongoing contacts with realtors, builders, and present customers to enhance cross-selling activities;
  • Present customers with the Bank's mortgage programs and to ascertain their banking needs;
  • Complete, print, or email application documents to customers;
  • Develop new promotional ideas for the market area.

Qualifications:
  • A high school diploma or GED;
  • A thorough knowledge of current mortgage products, lending policies and procedures, and regulations;
  • The ability to work autonomously and to make independent decisions;
  • Proficient reading, writing, and grammar skills; proficient analytical and mathematics skills;
  • Visual and auditory skills;
  • Detail-orientated;
  • A valid driver's license is required.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • A minimum of two (2) years' experience in a sales role and related positions.
