Job Summary

The Medical Director will be responsible for overseeing the clinical services provided at our facilities, ensuring that patients receive evidence-based care and that our staff are equipped to provide exceptional service. As a leader in correctional healthcare, you will be expected to stay up-to-date with the latest developments in medicine and to apply your knowledge to improve patient outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary physician and health authority required by national standards.
  • Provide overall supervision for clinical services to ensure appropriate delivery of on-site and off-site necessary medical care.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and accreditation standards.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to develop and implement treatment plans that meet the needs of patients.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives to continuously improve patient care and reduce readmissions.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient encounters and treatments.
  • Ensure that all staff members are trained and competent in their roles and responsibilities.
  • Actively participate in on-call rotations to ensure continuity of care and respond to emergencies as needed.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with community healthcare providers and stakeholders to promote collaboration and cooperation.

Requirements

  • Board certification in a relevant medical specialty (Family Practice, Internal Medicine, Emergency Medicine, Public Health or Occupational Medicine).
  • Licensure to practice medicine in the state of employment.
  • Current DEA registration.
  • Experience in corrections and/or managed healthcare delivery.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities.
  • Commitment to delivering high-quality patient care and improving patient outcomes.
