As a Registered Nurse in our General Surgery Trauma Stepdown Unit, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality care to critically ill patients.
Position Details:
This role is ideal for both experienced RNs and new graduates who are passionate about critical care nursing. The General Surgery Trauma Stepdown Unit is designed to provide a solid foundation for your nursing career, focusing on high-acuity trauma cases.
Work Schedule: The position offers flexible shift options, including three 12-hour night shifts or rotating shifts that include both day and night hours, contingent upon successful completion of orientation and a probationary period.
Qualifications:
- Graduation from an accredited nursing program (Bachelor's, Associate's, or Diploma).
- For experienced nurses, a minimum of one year of clinical nursing experience is required.
- All RNs without a Bachelor's degree must enroll in a BSN program within two years of hire.
- Current North Carolina RN licensure or compact RN licensure is mandatory.
- BLS certification is required; professional specialty certification is preferred.
Unit Profile:
The General Surgery & Trauma Stepdown Unit at Duke is dedicated to providing exceptional care to patients recovering from complex surgical procedures and trauma. Our 31-bed unit focuses on abdominal and vascular surgeries, as well as trauma cases, allowing RNs to enhance their critical thinking skills in a dynamic environment.
Our nursing team is committed to delivering the highest standard of care while advocating for our patients. On this unit, you will develop essential nursing skills and work collaboratively within a supportive interdisciplinary team.
