Overview
We are seeking a skilled individual to perform a range of technical responsibilities associated with the collection and examination of field and laboratory data. This role involves overseeing field and laboratory operations related to wastewater, surface water assessment, biosolids management, and soil analysis.
Primary Duties- Directs, oversees, and evaluates the work of technical staff.
- Facilitates team efforts in project tasks.
- Monitors and assesses research initiatives.
- Updates and reviews operational procedures and quality assurance plans.
- Conducts analyses of water and biological specimens utilizing various analytical instruments.
- Follows established protocols for sample collection.
- Manages maintenance schedules for water quality monitoring equipment.
- Supervises toxicity assessments on aquatic life.
- Provides training for new technical staff.
- Oversees the collection and analysis of samples.
- Inspects and evaluates laboratory equipment.
- Compiles reports and documents findings.
- Maintains logs for repairs and inventory management.
- Operates laboratory equipment effectively.
- Prepares necessary standards and reagents.
- Performs additional assigned responsibilities as needed.
Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Familiarity with metric measurements and scientific terminology.
- Comprehensive understanding of safe operational techniques and protocols.
- Capability to adhere to instructions accurately.
- Proficiency in performing calculations and maintaining precise records.
- Competence in sample collection and analytical procedures.
- Ability to organize and coordinate tasks efficiently.

Required Qualifications
A high school diploma along with two years of college education in relevant fields and three years of scientific experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Substitution Policy
Additional college coursework or extensive experience may be considered as a substitute.
Promotional Criteria
- A minimum of one year of experience in related roles.
- Civil service status is necessary.
