Job Summary

As an Associate Civil Structural Engineer at the New York Power Authority, you will play a crucial role in providing technical expertise to support operations, maintenance, and capital improvements at our transmission and substation facilities. Your expertise will be essential in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluate and apply standard techniques, procedures, and criteria to perform basic tasks.
  • Receive direction for basic tasks and guidance for more complex tasks.
  • Perform research and prepare design calculations and detail sketches.
  • Prepare portions of project documents and write simple technical reports with guidance.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (other disciplines may be considered).
  • Master's degree preferred.
  • Passed the Fundamentals of Engineering exam.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in civil/structural engineering, preferably in the utility industry.
Physical Requirements

Approximately 25% travel primarily within NY State. Ability to access all areas of the plant and conduct physical evaluations of grounds and equipment, including ability to climb and work at high elevations and in confined spaces, walk a significant distance, sometimes on uneven ground, and perform occasional minor lifting.
