Position Overview
The CT Technologist, under the supervision of the department manager and lead technologist, is responsible for executing a range of procedures utilizing ionizing radiation. The specific duties are outlined below, adhering to departmental protocols. Building positive relationships with all stakeholders is essential and aligns with Prisma Health's mission. The technologist will perform CT scans as instructed by the management team and maintain effective communication with physicians and colleagues. Key Responsibilities
  • Accurately identify patients and procedures. Communicate effectively with nursing staff or physicians regarding patient needs. Complete necessary questionnaires for patients aged 12-55. Position patients correctly for optimal imaging. Understand and apply scanning protocols thoroughly. Ensure timely completion of studies and prompt delivery to the radiologist for interpretation. Document the completion time of procedures on the patient board. Archive films and ensure they are sent to the radiologist for review. Prepare the examination room with the required supplies and maintain cleanliness and organization. Ensure availability of necessary supplies and linens. Clean tables and trays after each patient. Utilize proper techniques for IV contrast injections, ensuring IV functionality through saline checks. Demonstrate proficiency in imaging from the workstation, including 3D imaging and multiplanar reconstruction. Respond appropriately to emergency situations. - 50%
  • Clearly explain CT procedures to patients and their families. Gather completed questionnaires and pertinent medical history from patients, nursing staff, or physician offices. Keep patients and families informed of any delays. Mentor and train co-workers and students. Assist fellow technologists when not engaged in assigned tasks. - 20%
  • Acquire requisitions and verify clinical appropriateness. Charge for procedures, supplies, and surgical codes upon exam completion. Document badge usage and fluoroscopy time. Add surgical charges as necessary. Operate the PACS system correctly and verify studies before archiving. Report equipment issues to the supervisor and document confirmation numbers. Complete all required forms for procedures. Fill out contrast sheets for patients receiving IV and rectal contrast. Ensure all patients have completed CT forms. Collaborate with radiologists to establish appropriate protocols for each exam. Adhere to prescribed protocols and demonstrate recognition of anatomy and pathology relevant to the scans. Perform warm-up calibrations as required. - 20%
  • Ensure correct protocols are utilized as directed by the radiologist. Maintain competency in the CT department and perform point-of-care testing as needed. - 10%

Minimum Qualifications
Certification Program - Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program with ARRT certification in CT.
