Job Summary

The Food Service Worker is a vital member of our team at Child & Family Services of NY, responsible for assisting with the preparation and service of meals for children residing in our Residential Treatment programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Meal Preparation: Assist in preparing breakfast, lunch, and dinner entrees for large groups of children, minimizing waste and ensuring high-quality meals.
  • Menu Execution: Effectively follow and serve planned menus, ensuring all state requirements for nutrition are met, and making adjustments as needed.
  • Inventory Management: Maintain accurate food inventory, rotate stock, and place orders with vendors to ensure a smooth food service operation.
  • Food Safety and Sanitation: Adhere to infection control procedures, maintain a clean and sanitized kitchen, and ensure all equipment is in good working order.
  • Special Dietary Needs: Have knowledge of special dietary requirements, such as serving entrees for diabetics, and ensure that all meals meet these needs.
  • Team Collaboration: Participate in the Quality Improvement initiative, provide guidance and mentoring to new employees, and assist with special events and holiday functions.
Requirements
  • Education: High School Graduate
  • Experience: Experience cooking for large groups, preferred; and/or experience in a food service environment
  • Skills: Knowledge of Universal Precautions for Infection Control, HACCP, and Food Safety Standards and Procedures
