Security Forces specialists undergo rigorous training in law enforcement and tactical operations to safeguard bases both domestically and internationally. This role is both physically and mentally challenging, requiring these dedicated professionals to perform a variety of tasks, from issuing citations to conducting investigations, ensuring comprehensive protection for all individuals and assets on the base.
QUALIFICATIONS
Before joining the United States Air Force, candidates must meet several criteria related to their background, health, and other standards established by the Air Force and federal regulations.
Minimum Educational Requirements

Applicants must be at least 17 years old, a U.S. citizen, and achieve a qualifying score on the ASVAB.

*High school students may initiate their application process as early as the conclusion of their junior year.

Individuals who are non-graduates or do not hold alternate credentials must secure an AFQT Test score of 65 or higher on the ASVAB.

ASVAB Standards
General Qualifications
  • No history of excessive alcohol consumption, drug use, or related incidents.
  • No documented sleep disorders.
  • No current history of ADD, ADHD, or learning disabilities.
  • No apprehension about working with nuclear materials.
  • No fear of heights or confined spaces.
  • No documented gang affiliations.
  • No history of mood or personality disorders.
  • No speech impediments or significant communication issues.
  • Possession of a valid state driver's license for operating government vehicles.
  • Completion of a National Agency Check, Local Agency Checks, and a Credit Check.
  • Successful completion of 7.5 weeks of Basic Military Training.
  • Must be at least 17 years old and not exceed 42 years of age at the time of enlistment.
