Job Summary

Boys Town is seeking a skilled Registered Nurse to join our team in the Specialty Clinic GI. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide high-quality patient care, utilizing a systematic approach to nursing practice. Your expertise will be essential in delivering continuing health care to individuals, families, and communities.

Responsibilities
  • Provide individualized direct care to patients and families, prioritizing care based on needs.
  • Conduct assessments to determine nursing care needs, incorporating data from parents/guardians when necessary.
  • Implement nursing care activities according to patient needs, as directed by medical providers, in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Assist providers with office procedures, including assembling supplies, medications, and instruments.
  • Provide teaching specific to patients' health issues, based on cultural, cognitive, emotional, and social influences.
  • Arrange for additional services, such as lab, imaging, home health, speech, occupational, and physical therapy, as indicated by providers.
  • Track activities, such as lab and imaging, through order, execution, results, and subsequent provider recommendations.
  • Complete required documentation thoroughly, accurately, and in a timely manner.
  • Participate in educational activities to expand knowledge of assigned specialty, including physiology and pathology.
  • Participate actively in process improvement, quality initiatives, and development of processes to ensure compliance with regulations and accreditation requirements.
  • Promote a positive team environment and be willing to float to other specialty clinics to fulfill staffing needs.
  • Perform and document telephone triage, utilizing critical thinking skills, and promptly present nursing assessment to providers for recommendations.
Requirements
  • A registered nurse with a current state license, required.
  • Minimum of one year of experience in an ambulatory healthcare facility or hospital, preferred.
  • BLS certification, required.
  • Prior working knowledge of using a personal computer and electronic medical records.
