We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Academic Advisor to join our team at InsideHigherEd. As an Academic Advisor, you will play a critical role in supporting the academic success of our students, particularly in the Department of Computer Science.
Key Responsibilities- Student Advising: Provide academic advising to undergraduate students in the Department of Computer Science, including guidance on course selection, registration, and academic requirements.
- Collaboration: Work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and students to support the academic mission of the department and college.
- Program Development: Assist in the development and implementation of academic programs and services to support student success.
- Communication: Develop and maintain effective communication with students, faculty, and staff to ensure seamless delivery of academic services.
- Professional Development: Stay current with best practices in academic advising and higher education, and participate in professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.
- Master's Degree: A master's degree in counseling, psychology, adult/higher education, computer science, or a related field is required.
- Experience: A minimum of 2 years of experience in academic advising or a related field is preferred.
- Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
- Knowledge: Demonstrated knowledge of the principles and practices of academic advising, as well as the ability to apply this knowledge in a higher education setting.
- Experience in Academic Advising: Experience in academic advising at the college level is preferred.
- Presentational Skills: Evidence of effective presentations delivered in a large-group environment is preferred.
