Job Summary: Thompson Engineering is seeking an experienced Materials Technician to join our team. As a key member of our construction services group, you will be responsible for performing field tests and inspections to ensure compliance with industry standards.

About the Role:

This position involves working on various construction projects, ensuring that all materials meet specified standards. You will conduct daily site inspections, perform laboratory tests, and analyze results to identify potential quality issues.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct field tests and inspections to monitor construction progress and identify potential quality issues
  • Collect and prepare samples for laboratory testing
  • Perform laboratory tests on construction materials to ensure they meet specified standards
  • Analyze test results and provide recommendations for corrective action
  • Maintain accurate records of testing procedures and results
  • Communicate effectively with project managers, engineers, and contractors to address quality concerns
  • Stay up-to-date with industry developments and best practices in materials testing

Requirements:

  • Certified Construction Materials Technician (CMT) certification
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in materials testing or a related field
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks

Estimated Salary: $60,000 - $80,000 per year
