Job Title: Sr. Cloud Data Engineer

Globe Life Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Sr. Cloud Data Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our data engineering team, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and supporting our cloud-based data management and advanced analytics platforms.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and implement various database services on our cloud platform.
  • Provide technical guidance on data lake and enterprise data warehouse design, development, and monitoring.
  • Develop and implement data security measures around cloud infrastructures.
  • Collaborate with data services and application development teams on AWS database products.
  • Work with leadership on process improvement and strategic initiatives on cloud platform.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent work experience.
  • 7+ years of experience in Information Technology.
  • 5+ years of experience in database engineering primarily in AWS Redshift, RDS/Aurora, DynamoDB, DMS, Glue.
  • Proven experience in building data pipelines and database applications.
  • Strong coding and scripting experience with Python, PowerShell, or similar languages.
  • Development experience with major ETL tools, preferably Informatica.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Clear understanding of cloud databases security involving AWS IAM users and access, IAM roles and policies, federated users and permissions.
  • Good understanding of AWS encryption methodologies and AWS KMS services.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience with Amazon EMR or big data technologies like Hadoop, Spark, Presto, Hive will be a plus.
  • Prior domain experience in life insurance, annuity, or financial services will be a plus.
  • Knowledge of AWS machine learning offerings will be a plus.
  • Experience with data visualization tools will be a plus.
  • AWS certifications strongly preferred.
