Position Overview
This role typically involves a 12-week assignment within a healthcare setting. The Medical Imaging Specialist is certified in Radiography and plays a crucial role in evaluating patients while safely executing standard radiographic procedures, adhering to established safety protocols and guidelines. Furthermore, the specialist is proficiently trained and registered in an
additional modality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure the accuracy of physician orders and procedures.
  • Utilize radiology information systems to enhance patient care.
  • Communicate procedures to patients effectively to promote understanding.
  • Independently operate imaging equipment to conduct procedures as per protocol.
  • Review patient images prior to transmission to guarantee diagnostic quality standards.
  • Conduct timely quality control procedures in line with regulatory standards.
  • Assist in departmental operations, including inventory management and equipment maintenance.
  • Adapt communication and behavior to meet the needs of diverse patient populations.
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Education
Required: Completion of a Radiologic Technology program from an AMA accredited institution or a CAHEA approved formal training program in Diagnostic Medical Sonography.

Experience
Required: Minimum of 2 years in Radiologic Technology.

Certifications
Required: Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and/or American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) and/or certification by the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB). Must hold a current license in the state of practice and possess advanced level certifications in specific additional modalities. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association is also required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Proficient in computer skills necessary for data entry and information retrieval.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present information clearly.
  • Familiarity with Windows-style applications and specific software packages related to the role.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Understanding of procedures and technical terminology.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Capable of working efficiently under pressure.
  • Self-directed with the ability to function without direct supervision.
  • Willingness to maintain flexibility in work duties and hours.
  • General knowledge of anatomy relevant to specific radiology modalities.
  • Ability to preliminarily identify abnormal findings as required for specific radiology modalities.

Physical and Environmental Demands
The physical demands of this position require the ability to exert significant force occasionally, frequently, or constantly to move objects. Duties performed routinely may involve exposure to blood, body fluids, and tissues, and the incumbent will work in patient care areas with potential exposure to communicable diseases and hazardous materials.
