Job Summary

As a Respiratory Therapist at Frye Regional Medical Center, you will play a vital role in assessing, treating, and caring for patients with breathing disorders. You will be responsible for supervising respiratory therapy students, initiating and conducting therapeutic procedures, maintaining patient records, and selecting, assembling, checking, and operating equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Measure lung capacity and analyze blood samples using a blood gas analyzer.
  • Deliver and assess response to ordered therapy per plan of care, monitoring, recording, and communicating patient condition as appropriate.
  • Evaluate respiratory care policies and procedures based on patient outcomes, current research, and best practices.
  • Respond to codes and calls for emergent assistance, assessing patient condition and delivering appropriate treatment.
  • Educate patients and families about their illness and provide information about community support groups and other resources.
  • Monitor, receive, stock, and distribute respiratory care supplies and medical gas cylinders.
  • Maintain storage areas with required supply levels and equipment.
  • Disassemble, clean, and sterilize equipment, and perform preventative maintenance and calibration of machines.
Requirements
  • Associate's Degree (or equivalent technician program) in Respiratory Care required.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Respiratory Care preferred.
  • Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) required, Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) within 3 months of date of hire or transfer, Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) within 3 months of date of hire or transfer, NRP within 3 months of date of hire or transfer.
  • Licenses: Requires current North Carolina Respiratory Care Practitioner license (RCP).
  • 3 years experience as a RRT preferred.
