We are seeking a highly qualified Pulmonary/Critical Care Physician-Scientist to join our team at Medical University of South Carolina Health. As the Dave Savula Endowed Chair for Sarcoidosis Research, you will have the opportunity to lead an independent research program and contribute to our expanding portfolio of research in pulmonary and critical care diseases, with a focus on Sarcoidosis.
About the DivisionThe Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care, Allergy & Sleep Medicine at MUSC Health is a world-renowned center for excellence in patient care, education, and research. Our team of 42 pulmonary/critical care physicians, 35 APPs, and 60 support staff are dedicated to providing outstanding clinical care to our patients. We are committed to advancing the field of pulmonary and critical care medicine through innovative research and education.
About the PositionWe are seeking a candidate with:
- MD, MD/PhD or equivalent degree
- Board certification or eligibility in Pulmonary/Critical Care
- Demonstrated ability or future potential to lead an independent research program with likelihood of sustained extramural funding
- Academic orientation, interest in teaching and mentorship
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to:
- Serve as the Dave Savula Endowed Chair for Sarcoidosis Research
- Leverage a large clinical cohort of sarcoidosis patients to support basic and translational sarcoidosis research
- Establish an established sarcoidosis clinical research program and active sarcoidosis biobank
- Collaborate with our extensive multispecialty expertise, including dedicated cardiac sarcoidosis and neurosarcoidosis multidisciplinary teams
- Work in a new state-of-the-art laboratory facilities with robust clinical trials unit
- Engage in cutting-edge research to translate discoveries made at the bench into practices that will benefit patients
