Job Title: Dishroom Attendant

Roanoke College Dining Services is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Dishroom Attendant. This full-time, 9-month position plays a critical role in maintaining the cleanliness and organization of our food service operation.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure proper safety and sanitation protocols are followed in accordance with Virginia Department of Health guidelines and Dining Services management.
  • Dispose of garbage and recyclables in designated areas.
  • Clean floors and surfaces using sweeping and mopping equipment.
  • Monitor and maintain proper levels of chemicals in sinks and other kitchen areas.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace at all times.
  • Clean and sanitize dishes, glasses, utensils, pots, and pans, and related food preparation and serving items and equipment.
  • Operate the dishwasher and ensure it is functioning properly.
  • Check and store clean items in designated areas.
  • Perform all job tasks in accordance with Dining Services rules and guidelines.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues and other departments as needed.
  • Ability to lift 40 pounds and carry it for short distances.

Our staff is expected to demonstrate courtesy, tact, and respect in all interactions with students, faculty, staff, and the general public. This position requires the ability to work every other weekend. Uniforms and non-slip safety shoes are provided, along with a free meal on scheduled work days.
