We are on the lookout for a Principal Engineer who will strategize and innovate to enhance and safeguard the software and systems that underpin all T-Mobile IT services. This role encompasses the management of scalability, availability, latency, performance, security, and capacity, while ensuring the delivery of software that is faster, better, and more cost-effective. Responsibilities include developing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines and constructing the next generation of T-Mobile applications on cloud-native platforms, enabling exceptional customer experiences and fostering product innovation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Development: Contribute to the creation of new designs, architectures, standards, and repeatable processes aimed at enhancing software delivery and operational management, ultimately improving customer experience through continuous operational improvements.
  • Leadership and Mentorship: Guide and mentor a team of Systems Reliability Engineers and vendor resources, leading improvement initiatives or proof of concepts as projects.
  • Technical Expertise: Leverage advanced knowledge in emerging DevOps-centric automation tools and technologies for CI/CD, configuration management, and more, across both non-production and production environments.
  • Drive future enhancements in software delivery processes and operations, including cloud enablement and the use of microservices with containerization.
  • Ensure software delivery that enhances the availability, scalability, latency, and efficiency of T-Mobile's services.
  • Manage environment setups, automated server provisioning, and pipeline configurations.
  • Create and utilize dashboards for continuous monitoring and health checks of applications and infrastructure, improving service quality through monitoring feedback.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in Agile and DevOps environments is preferred.
  • Familiarity with DevOps tools such as Ansible, Chef, Puppet, and containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes is preferred.
  • Experience in migrating to cloud or cloud-native environments is preferred.
  • Proficiency with performance testing tools such as Load Runner is required.
  • Cloud computing experience is preferred.
  • 7-10 years of validated experience is required.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as C, C#, Java, Perl, Python, Go, or scripting languages like Shell and Perl is required.
  • Experience with CI/CD tools like Jenkins and other automation tools is required.
  • Familiarity with APM tools like AppDynamics and logging tools like Splunk is required.
  • Experience in cloud environments (public/private) is required.
  • DevOps experience is required.

Education:

  • A Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field is required.
  • A Master's or advanced degree may be considered in lieu of a Master's degree based on equivalent proven experience.

Additional Requirements:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

Travel: Travel may be required.

Compensation: Base pay range is $109,400 - $197,300, with a corporate bonus target of 20%. Actual pay will be determined based on various factors, including work location, qualifications, and experience.
