Utilize the nursing process to deliver exceptional patient care. Demonstrate a thorough understanding of unit practices, emerging issues, trends, and technology. Deliver direct patient care through the application of the nursing process, consistently gathering and analyzing patient data.
Develop, revise, and document care plans, including discharge planning, in collaboration with patients, their families, and healthcare providers.
Exhibit competence in administering and monitoring therapeutic interventions for complex patients, becoming a sought-after resource for this expertise.
Aid in identifying and resolving quality improvement issues related to patient care, implementing interventions that uphold patient dignity, privacy, and safety.Provide leadership within the department to meet organizational goals and objectives. Facilitate and monitor ongoing activities to ensure compliance with regulatory standards. Demonstrate accountability and knowledge of departmental and organizational objectives, promoting a positive, caring, and collegial environment. Assist in developing and monitoring program and clinical outcomes, recommending enhancements as necessary. Coordinate departmental orientation, continuing education, and clinical development, while monitoring compliance with policies and procedures. Evaluate team performance and offer appropriate feedback, demonstrating the ability to lead and manage emergency situations.
Support the implementation of performance improvement initiatives. Operationalize the Quality Improvement/Performance Improvement (QI/PI) program for the department. Facilitate staff education and participation in QI/PI activities. Consistently communicate customer satisfaction results, recommending and implementing plans to enhance satisfaction. Research and follow up on departmental incidents, integrating changes into practice and mentoring others to do the same. Identify opportunities for QI processes and participate in their design and implementation.
Assist in the selection and management of specialty areas, including resources for a defined workgroup. Participate in personnel selection and supervision, contributing to performance appraisals. Generate and participate in the development of departmental schedules and manage daily staffing operations. Assist with staff assignments and patient throughput, investigating budgetary variances and documenting staffing discrepancies. Provide input for the annual budget process and monitor departmental cost-containment activities, identifying strategies to reduce operational costs.
Demonstrate effective conflict resolution and negotiation skills, fostering a positive, supportive, and professional work environment free from disruptive behavior. Practice compassion and respect in all professional relationships, honoring the dignity and uniqueness of every individual. Follow the Chain of Command for assistance with unresolved issues and conflict resolution, seeking and providing constructive feedback. Promote effective conflict resolution.
Qualifications
EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree in Nursing required; Master's degree preferred in Nursing or a health-related field with certification in a nursing specialty considered in lieu of a Master's in Nursing.
EXPERIENCE: Minimum of two (2) years of clinical experience in a specialty area required; three (3) years as an RN preferred.
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/LISTING: Required
RN | Registered Nurse licensed in North Carolina or a Compact state.
BLS (CPR) - American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider
Certification in a clinical specialty as defined by National Certification requirements is required within two (2) years of hire into the RN Specialty Coordinator position.

PALS | Pediatric Advanced Life Support
Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) preferred.
