Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Pretrial Services Assessor to join our team at Dane County, WI. As a Pretrial Services Assessor, you will play a critical role in performing pretrial risk assessments for defendants coming through in-custody initial appearance court. Your assessment results will inform bail determinations for the court, and you will work closely with the court to ensure accurate and timely assessments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform pretrial risk assessments for defendants coming through in-custody initial appearance court
  • Use the Department of Justice TIME System to complete assessments and record bail determinations
  • Attend in-custody initial appearance court to answer questions about assessment results and provide clarification
  • Assist in the training of new employees and monitor and assign work to others performing similar tasks
  • Operate personal computers for data entry and TIME searches
Requirements
  • Any combination of education, training, and experience equivalent to high school/GED graduation
  • Two (2) years of professional experience in a criminal justice agency involving proficiency with interactive databases
  • Must have access to reliable personal transportation
  • Must have the ability to pass an FBI-level background check to achieve and maintain Wisconsin Department of Justice TIME System certification
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous TIME system certification
  • Experience working with risk assessments and/or risk management in a criminal justice or similar setting
  • Experience working with criminal history records and/or confidential records in general
  • Experience collecting justice system data and communicating it clearly and accurately to an audience
