Job Title: Fire Protection Engineer

Estimated Salary: $85,000 - $110,000 per year

We are seeking a highly skilled Fire Protection Engineer to join our team at O'Brien Engineering, Inc. (OEI). As a Fire Protection Engineer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the design and construction of buildings and facilities comply with federal, state, and local fire protection codes and regulations.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Code Compliance: Interpret and apply federal, state, and local fire protection codes and regulations to ensure compliance in the design and construction of buildings and facilities.\
  • System Design: Design and develop fire protection systems, including fire alarm systems, sprinkler systems, smoke control systems, and other related systems.\
  • Plan Review: Review architectural and engineering plans to assess fire protection features, identify potential hazards, and recommend necessary modifications for compliance.\
  • Life Safety Planning: Assist in the development and review of emergency response plans, evacuation procedures, and other measures to enhance life safety during fire incidents.\
  • Project Coordination: Collaborate with architects, other engineers, and project managers to integrate fire protection measures seamlessly into building designs and construction projects.\
  • Documentation: Prepare detailed engineering reports, specifications, and documentation related to fire protection systems and compliance efforts.\
  • Inspection and Testing: Conduct on-site inspections to ensure the installation and implementation of fire protection systems meet the approved plans and standards.\
  • Risk Assessment: Perform risk assessments to identify potential fire hazards and develop strategies to mitigate risks.\
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure that all fire protection engineering work complies with quality standards, budget constraints, and project timelines.\
  • Client Interaction: Communicate with clients, government officials, and project stakeholders to address inquiries, provide technical expertise, and ensure project goals are met.\
  • Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Fire Protection Engineering or a related field; Professional Engineering (PE) license required; knowledge of NFPA and IBC codes and regulations.\
