About the Role:

The Senior Vice President of Credit Department Leadership will be responsible for developing and implementing strategic plans to drive business growth and profitability. This individual will serve as a subject matter expert in financial and industry knowledge, providing guidance and support to department members.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and administer underwriting guidelines that balance risk and profit strategies.
  • Monitor market conditions and adjust strategies accordingly to ensure competitiveness and profitability.
  • Provide approval rates, terms, and exposures on loan proposals to ensure alignment with business objectives.
  • Coordinate and manage business flow with the inside sales department to optimize efficiency and productivity.
  • Recommend rates, terms, and exposure on quotes for loans above set quoting authority to reduce time spent by senior executives and improve profit and risk mitigation.
  • Assist Inside Sales staff with complex math, financial statement, and knowledge questions, as well as technical and insurance knowledge.
  • Participate in team discussions and understand the inside sales process to provide collaborative and impromptu support.
  • Manage and develop the credit team, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional development.
  • Support the development and understanding of credit within the larger organization.
  • Evaluate efficiencies within the department to identify and recommend areas for improvement in close collaboration with other departments.

Requirements:

  • 10+ years of experience in a leadership position within the credit department of a financial institution or finance company.
  • Active Insurance License preferred or advanced knowledge of insurance policy language and terms.
  • Undergraduate degree in economics, finance, or accounting.
