Quality Engineer (Weldments/Fabrication)

Key Responsibilities


• Collaborate with production and engineering teams to guarantee the delivery of high-quality products.


• Interpret and comprehend fabrication and assembly blueprints at an advanced level, grasping the design's intent.


• Utilize available data to establish specifications, inspection, or testing protocols.


• Document inspection or testing results, including measurements, conditions, and non-destructive testing (NDT) outcomes.


• Generate test or inspection reports that outline findings, suggestions, or necessary repairs.


• Partner with the team to identify root causes and implement corrective and preventive measures.


• Take ownership of the quality management system and its implementation.


• Monitor data for negative trends.


• Prepare quality and other relevant reports.


• Perform additional tasks as assigned by the supervisor.

Additional Responsibilities (and preferred technical skills)


• Collect or select samples for evaluation.


• Prioritize the inspection queue based on fluctuating production demands throughout the day.


• Assess, test, or measure materials or products during the fabrication, painting, or assembly stages for compliance with specifications.


• Proficiently utilize measuring tools such as rulers, calipers, micrometers, and protractors.


• Maintain, calibrate, or repair measuring instruments or testing equipment, including dial indicators, fixed gauges, height gauges, or calipers and micrometers.


• Make minor adjustments to equipment, such as calibrating instruments to meet required tolerances.


• Safely position products, components, or parts for testing using cranes and slings or other accessories.


• Assist in training staff on the proper care and usage of precision measurement tools.


• Notify the Quality Director of any observed trends within the process that deviate from designs or are relevant based on the issue's nature.

Notes:


• CWI certification is advantageous.


• Proficiency in SolidWorks is beneficial (for reading and navigating drawings and models, not for creating them).


• Strong skills in Excel are required.


• Experience with ERP quality modules is preferred.
