We are seeking a dedicated Travel Nurse RN to join our esteemed healthcare team at HCA Houston West. This role focuses on providing exceptional care in a dynamic ICU environment.
Certification Requirements- Preferred certifications include: Cardiovascular surgical and Neurovascular surgical.
- The ICU unit comprises 28 beds, supported by a proficient team of over 70 staff members, all of whom are Registered Nurses, along with a charge nurse and a unit secretary.
- Key equipment utilized includes hypothermia devices, Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT), ventilators, and various pumps (IV and feeding).
- The Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system in use is Meditech.
- Patient-to-nurse ratios are maintained at 2-3:1 for optimal care.
- A minimum of 2 years of acute ICU experience is required.
- Experience with cardiovascular cases, including recovery from open-heart surgeries and post-CABG patients, is essential.
- EKG competency is necessary.
- Day shifts include a charge nurse, 14 RNs, and a unit secretary to ensure comprehensive coverage.
- Night shifts maintain equivalent staffing levels as day shifts.
- Shifts commence at 6:45 AM/6:45 PM, with a mandatory 30-minute lunch break.
- Bedside reporting is a standard practice.
- Common procedures performed include CT insertions, intubations, central line insertions, and CRRT.
- Unit guidelines and policies are available for review.
- Dress code mandates royal blue scrubs, with restrictions on artificial nails and visible tattoos; hoodies are not permitted, and undershirts must be white or royal blue.
- Acknowledged for excellence, our unit has achieved 1st place in the Gulf Coast division for ventilator days.
- We maintain a green scorecard for CAUTI and CLABSI bundles, along with CHG bathing protocols.
- Our team embraces new technologies and equipment as part of our commitment to quality care.
- Teamwork is a fundamental aspect of our workplace culture, fostering collaboration and support among staff.
