Job Title: Applications Scientist

Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. is seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to join the Americas NanoPort team as an Applications Scientist based in Hillsboro, Oregon.

This is an exceptional opportunity to make a significant impact in the field of Electron Microscopy while being part of a world-class company.

Responsibilities:
  • Deliver high-quality product demonstrations of SEM systems to customers and partners.
  • Develop new techniques and applications for the Materials Sciences marketplace.
  • Conduct customer training and translate customer needs into workable solutions.
  • Assist with all phases of the sales cycle as a technical product expert.
  • Nurture positive customer relationships and act as a high-level customer interface for specific instrument/applications issues.
  • Provide customer support and applications training post-sales cycle.
  • Collaborate with product groups to provide continuous feedback on system performance and potential problems.
  • Collaborate with marketing/development groups on future product developments.
Requirements:
  • University degree in Materials Science, Physics, or Chemistry (advanced degree preferred).
  • 3 or more years of experience in a relevant position within the research environment with recent experience using SEM technology.
  • Strong interest in electron microscopy and correlative workflows are a plus.
  • Proficiency in advanced technology diagnostics, problem-solving techniques, and operational optimization.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills tailored for a diverse audience.
  • Demonstrated success in collaborating effectively with diverse teams.
  • Ability to travel both domestically and internationally (up to 50%).
