Job SummaryEssex County College seeks a dedicated and experienced educator to join our team as an Adjunct Faculty member. As a key member of our Adult Learning Center, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality instruction and support to students in basic skills and workforce readiness areas.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide instruction in ABE, ESL, and/or GED, as well as job search skills, to students in a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
- Evaluate student performance in accordance with established procedures and recommend program exit or continuation.
- Apply principles of effective human relations, learning styles, and cognitive development to promote student growth and development.
- Collaborate with other professional staff to address issues and procedures for instructing and counseling students.
- Resolve academic problems and provide consultation services to students at scheduled times.
- Administer pre and post-tests, as well as informal assessments, to evaluate student progress and inform instruction.
- Participate in staff activities for in-service training and professional development.
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance and report as required.
- Ensure the confidentiality and security of staff and student records.
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
- One or more years of experience teaching at the developmental or remedial level, tutoring, or training in projects for persons or groups with needs similar to those served by the ABE program.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment and adapt teaching methodologies to meet the needs of adult students.
- Masters in Teaching (MAT) or a related field.
- Demonstrated knowledge of testing materials, procedures, and evaluation.
- Ability to apply principles of learning styles, cognitive development, and psycholinguistics to promote basic skills attainment.
- Background in curriculum development.
