Job Title: Substitute Science Teacher

Responsibilities:
  • Deliver instruction through the use of curriculum materials and educational software.
  • Develop daily lesson plans and classroom schedules that reflect state and school requirements.
  • Collaborate with fellow teachers and other support staff to provide instructional support and approved modifications to the curriculum.
  • Implement standards for student behavior to ensure a safe, secure, and effective learning environment by providing a high degree of structure, clear expectations, and consistency.
  • Maintain regular contact with students' parents/guardians to inform them of student progress, areas of difficulty, and any changes or situations in home life that may affect school performance.
  • Actively participate in team meetings when necessary to address specific student and parent concerns.
  • Assess student progress through consistent review of classroom data collection and recording systems.
  • Keep up to date with research-based practices and developments in subject areas, resources, and professional development.
  • Respond constructively to formal and informal feedback.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in education or a related field.
  • Meet all state substitute teaching credential and/or licensing requirements.
  • Prior experience working in a special education and/or classroom setting is preferred.
  • Prior experience in related grade levels and/or subject matters is preferred.
  • Prior experience working in an alternative education program setting is preferred.
  • Proven ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and adapt to change and/or new initiatives.
  • Advanced motivational, conflict resolution, problem-solving, decision-making, and organization skills.
  • Highly effective oral and written communication.
  • Well-versed in the use of relevant technology, including experience with computers, Microsoft Office Suite, database entry, and basic office equipment.
