The Registered Nurse is responsible for delivering nursing care across various settings, collaborating with healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient outcomes. The Oncology RN plays a crucial role in providing compassionate care to patients undergoing treatments for hematological and oncological conditions. This includes understanding the complexities of cancer care and being prepared to address oncologic emergencies. The RN will educate patients and their families about disease management, treatment options, and symptom relief.
Experience Requirements
Prior oncology experience is preferred. New graduates or RNs without oncology experience will be required to participate in an Oncology Nurse Residency Program.
Licensure Requirements
Registered Nurse licensed in Ohio. Completion of a Chemotherapy/Biotherapy administration course is necessary for those working in infusion settings. OCN certification is preferred, along with BLS certification.
Desirable Attributes
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing is preferred (to be completed within five years of employment).
- Familiarity with examination and treatment procedures.
- Proficient in the use of medical equipment and instruments for patient care.
- Understanding of safety protocols to maintain a secure working environment.
- Ability to assist in various medical treatments and procedures.
- Competence in managing patient records and documenting test results.
This position involves telephone triage responsibilities within the Oncology Service Line.
