The role requires proficiency in nursing practices and adherence to age-specific standards concerning the physical and emotional needs of residents as outlined in their care plans.
The LPN is responsible for ensuring the health, comfort, and safety of residents. This includes contributing to resident assessments, administering prescribed medications or treatments, and providing technical support to healthcare professionals as necessary. Accurate documentation of resident interactions and care outcomes is essential. The LPN must establish and maintain effective working relationships with residents, healthcare providers, and the community, while ensuring clear communication and confidentiality of sensitive information. The role also involves counseling residents and their families on preventive measures and treatment plans under the supervision of a registered nurse or physician.
