African American Literature Full-Time Guest Faculty

We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced instructor to join our team as a full-time guest faculty member in African American Literature. The successful candidate will have a strong background in teaching and research in African American literature, with a focus on one or more of the following areas: the literature of slavery, Black Feminism, Afro-Latin Studies, Black religions, and/or Black Queer Studies.

Responsibilities
  • Teach two courses per semester, with a focus on African American literature and culture
  • Develop and teach courses that align with the department's curriculum and goals
  • Advise and mentor students in their research projects
  • Participate in departmental and college-wide service and committee work
Requirements
  • Ph.D. (or ABD) in Literature or a related field
  • Strong teaching and research experience in African American literature
  • Ability to teach courses across periods and genres
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience teaching at the undergraduate level
  • Publication record in African American literature
  • Experience working with diverse student populations
