Job Overview

Sterling Engineering Inc. is a leading manufacturer of high-quality products, and we are seeking a skilled Manufacturing Excellence Lead to join our team in West Columbia, SC.

The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing and enhancing Advanced Manufacturing systems on specific production lines, driving efficiency and improving operational performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement strategies to eliminate losses and improve yield, working closely with Maintenance Leads and Process Owners.
  • Lead transformation analysis, centerline definition, and standard development efforts to drive operational excellence.
  • Analyze daily and shift line data to prioritize loss elimination opportunities and develop actionable plans.
  • Gather information on stops, centerlines, and changeovers to identify areas for improvement.
  • Investigate the root cause of top stops and develop countermeasures to ensure compliance with Centerline/CIL standards.
  • Provide training and manage the execution of Centerline and CIL Daily Management systems.
  • Collaborate with Process Owners and Maintenance Leads to address sporadic losses and improve overall operational performance.
  • Lead Universal Problem Solving initiatives to eliminate chronic losses on the line.
  • Conduct and lead AM events, demonstrating expertise in CIL and Basic Problem Solving (6W, 2H).

Estimated Salary: $58,560 - $62,400 per year based on a 40-hour workweek and 52 weeks per year.

About the Ideal Candidate

We are looking for an experienced professional with a proven track record in leading continuous improvement projects and knowledge of Lean Manufacturing concepts. The ideal candidate will possess strong planning, organizational, and communication skills, as well as the ability to coach and manage systems such as CIL, CLM, and 5S.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 2 years of experience in a manufacturing environment is required, 5+ years in food manufacturing is preferred.
  • Proven experience leading continuous improvement projects with knowledge of Lean Manufacturing concepts.
  • Yellow or Green Belt certification is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Ability to develop and write management system documents, SOPs, and OPLs.
