Nurse Resident

As a Nurse Resident at Orlando Health, you will have the opportunity to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, providing high-quality patient care to our patients. You will be responsible for administering bedside patient care in a hospital or inpatient/observation setting, assessing patients' needs, and developing individualized plans of care. You will also be responsible for evaluating patients' progress, respecting diversity, and functioning as a patient and family advocate. Additionally, you will demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on your assigned unit/department. You will serve as a preceptor, charge nurse, unit educator, and/or nurse clinician, communicating and collaborating with medical staff and interdisciplinary teams to effectively plan and manage the unit/department. You will also prioritize patient care in an ongoing manner in accordance with Evidence-Based Practice Standards of Care and practice effective problem identification and resolution. You will delegate tasks and duties to healthcare team members in accordance with the patients' needs and the team members' capabilities and qualifications. You will demonstrate caring practices by providing a compassionate and therapeutic environment for patients and their families. You will also demonstrate awareness of legal issues and patients' rights. You will collaborate with the education department and nursing leadership team to effectively transition and support new team members and/or students. You will participate and may lead unit level and/or organizational level committees of nursing practice and performance improvement. You will participate in department and organizational peer review, mentoring, and coaching regarding professional practice or role performance. You will practice efficient use of supplies and maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area. You will attend staff development in-services, department meetings, and/or nursing committee meetings. You will partner with the nursing leadership team to identify professional development needs. You will assume responsibility for one's own professional development and continuing education. You will actively participate and attend the Nurse Residency Program as appropriate to role.
Responsibilities:
• Administers bedside patient care in a hospital or inpatient/observation setting under the supervision of a preceptor, leader, and/or charge nurse. • Assesses patients' needs and develops/revises an individualized plan of care based on patient needs and responses. • Evaluates the patients' progress toward attaining expected outcomes. • Respects diversity by building respectful relationships with all team members and customers. • Functions as a patient and family advocate. • Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his or her assigned unit/department. • Serves as a preceptor, charge nurse, unit educator, and/or nurse clinician. • Communicates and collaborates with medical staff and interdisciplinary team to effectively plan and manage the unit/department. • Serves as a role model for staff and supports the hospital and nursing departments' goals and strategies. • Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span, assesses the data reflective of the patients' status, and interprets the necessary information needed to identify each patients' requirements relative to his or her age-specific needs. • Coordinates the care and delegates as appropriate to other team members on a defined group of patients. • Documents patient care in a knowledgeable, skillful, and consistent manner meeting all required and regulatory standards. Qualifications:
• Education/Training: Nursing school graduate. • Licensure/Certification: Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Florida or valid Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) multistate RN license. • Maintains current BLS/Healthcare Provider certification. • ACLS, NRP, PALS, TNCC are required for certain areas. NRP is required for the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). • Experience: None.
