Join the California Governor's Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES) as a Disaster Assistance Program Specialist I and play a critical role in supporting California communities affected by disasters.

About the Position:

The Disaster Assistance Program Specialist I (DAPS I) position is under the supervision of the Program Manager I. Incumbents perform average to difficult tasks relating to the provision of federal and state disaster assistance within the Cal OES Recovery Branch. Works within various programs including grants management, public assistance, research analysis and documentation, and administration.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the provision of federal and state disaster assistance to affected communities.
  • Work with various personnel from Cal OES, FEMA, and other partners to coordinate disaster response and recovery efforts.
  • Perform tasks related to grants management, public assistance, research analysis and documentation, and administration.
  • Meet regulatory and internal deadlines on all assignments.
  • May be required to travel on short notice and work overtime as necessary in support of Cal OES program objectives.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience in disaster response and recovery, grants management, or a related field preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
