Job Summary:

The Nurse Assistant Apprentice will work under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) and/or licensed clinician to provide patient care and assist with planning and implementing patient care. The ideal candidate will be enrolled in the Henry Ford Health System Department of Labor (DOL) approved apprenticeship program and have a strong foundation in nursing skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide patient care and assist with daily living activities
  • Assist with planning and implementing patient care under the direction of an RN
  • Respond to emergent situations according to established procedures
  • Participate in own continuing education and professional development
  • Follow the Henry Ford Health System Team Member Standards of Excellence in all interactions

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent
  • Completion of the HFHS Nurse Assistant Apprenticeship Program recognized by the Department of Labor (DOL)
  • Ability to read, write, and understand verbal and written instructions
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Ability to lift, carry, transfer, and move clients as needed

Certifications/Licenses:

  • Complete BLS Heart Saver Certification during apprenticeship program
  • Valid Michigan driver's license and dependable vehicle insured as required by the State of Michigan (for Home Care department)
