Carpentry Instructor

The Virginia Department of Human Resource Management is seeking a skilled Carpentry Instructor to join our team. As a Carpentry Instructor, you will be responsible for providing quality educational programs to residents/students, meeting the individual needs of each student, and adhering to the standards defined under the Commonwealth's statutes and program certification requirements.

• Develop and implement effective instructional programs in carpentry, ensuring students meet the standards defined under the Commonwealth's statutes and program certification requirements.
• Supervise students and youth, facilitating appropriate classroom management and maintaining accurate records.
• Collaborate with the Education Leadership Team, including Managers, Division of Education Programmatic Directors, and School Superintendent, to ensure alignment with onsite directives.
• Hold or be eligible for Journeyman or Master Carpenter License and a Virginia Teaching License.

• High school diploma or Virginia Board of Education-approved high school equivalency credential.
• Knowledge of content, curriculum, methods, materials, and equipment to successfully perform the work.
• Ability to supervise students and youth, facilitate appropriate classroom management, and maintain accurate records.
• Minimum of two years of successful experience at the journeyman level or an equivalent in the trade.

• Experience teaching or working with at-risk youth.
