Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Electrical and Instrumentation Designer IV to join our team at RightStaff, Inc. This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires a strong background in electrical and instrumentation engineering, as well as excellent project management skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement electrical and instrumentation standards for equipment purchases and installations.
  • Define and plan projects, including determining project objectives, selecting technical strategies, and providing technical assistance to business units.
  • Oversee the construction of electrical and instrumentation capital projects, ensuring they meet budget and refinery/OSHA standards.
  • Develop project scopes, budgets, and AFEs for approval, and ensure projects meet budget and refinery/OSHA standards.
  • Implement projects by monitoring performance, taking corrective actions, and providing feedback to project teams.
  • Solve technical problems related to projects, troubleshoot, and update report data for business units.
  • Upgrade, design, configure, maintain, and monitor related equipment and performance.
  • Analyze related components and systems, processes, and methods, and refinery processes and economics.
  • Ensure the maintenance and integrity of business unit data.
  • Design chemical plant electrical and instrumentation equipment and devise processes for manufacturing chemicals and products.
  • Conduct research to develop new and improved process control processes.
  • Design and plan layout for electrical and instrumentation on a commercial scale.
  • Determine the most effective arrangement of electrical, instrumentation, and controls, such as burner management, safety instrumented systems, and power distribution equipment.
  • Investigate and resolve work-in-process problems.
Requirements
  • A minimum of eight years of progressive work experience in electrical, instrumentation, and controls is required, with an emphasis on controls engineering and power distribution.
  • Refinery or petrochemical industry experience is preferred.
  • A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in a technical discipline or equivalent amount of experience is required.
  • Ability to manage a project is essential, with a working knowledge of commonly used engineering concepts and the ability to apply this knowledge analytically.
  • Ability to stay abreast of new technology developments and processes is essential.
  • Technical expertise in the area of specialty is required.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with others, both written and verbal communication, is essential.
  • Advanced reading and writing skills, with the ability to perform complex mathematical calculations, are required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft products and experience with engineering software is preferred.
Work Environment

The job conditions require standing, walking, sitting, twisting, stooping, crouching, kneeling, talking or hearing, making visual inspections, making precise hand and finger movements, reaching or grasping, lifting and/or carrying up to 50lbs, pushing and/or pulling up to 25lbs, climbing up to 200ft, and operating and driving all assigned company vehicles at company standard insurance rates.
