POSITION SUMMARY: The Fleet Operations Maintenance Supervisor is tasked with overseeing a maintenance facility that operates under the guidance of a Maintenance Manager. This role involves managing a team of technicians responsible for the preventive upkeep and repair of a fleet, machinery supporting a post-collection facility, and equipment servicing the container shop. The Supervisor will ensure that all maintenance and repairs on equipment, including trucks (diesel and alternative fuel), containers, and other heavy-duty machinery, adhere to safety and compliance standards set by the company, as well as federal and state regulations. Planning and scheduling repair work efficiently to minimize productivity loss is also a key responsibility.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee departmental hiring, training, coaching, performance evaluations, and scheduling of work assignments.
  • Implement and maintain a robust preventive and corrective maintenance program that exemplifies service excellence.
  • Review and analyze status reports related to road calls, breakdowns, parts inventory, repairs, and safety performance.
  • Guide technicians of varying skill levels to ensure all maintenance tasks are executed safely and efficiently.
  • Monitor operational performance and efficiency, taking corrective actions as necessary.
  • Report performance metrics to management and recommend process improvements for enhanced efficiency.
  • Supervise maintenance shop activities, including conducting daily briefings, coaching technicians, and managing hiring and termination processes in collaboration with Human Resources.
  • Inspect external repairs to confirm compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
  • Identify training needs and address performance issues constructively with technicians.
  • Conduct Quality Control Inspections to ensure all work meets company standards and regulations.
  • Oversee complex repair diagnostics and provide necessary coaching; may involve road testing vehicles for assessment.
  • Manage inventory control systems for the maintenance shop, ensuring equipment and parts are adequately stocked and expenditures remain within budget.
  • Maintain advanced knowledge of various mechanical systems to perform comprehensive preventive and repair maintenance on heavy equipment and vehicles.
  • Handle administrative tasks for the team, including payroll, maintenance records, and budget preparation aligned with departmental goals.

Qualifications:

  • Associate's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Management, or equivalent experience in a related field.
  • 1-4 years of experience in basic accounting or fixed asset management preferred.
  • Proficient in developing detailed reports with accuracy and timeliness.
  • 1-4 years of experience in a fleet maintenance supervisory role.
