COMPENSATION PACKAGE
Salary range: $49.43 – 52.25 per hour.
WORK SCHEDULE
Standard work hours are Monday through Friday, totaling 40 hours per week.
CONTRACT DETAILS
This is a 9-month contract role with a strong potential for extension or transition to a permanent position.
The organization is looking for a GIS Competition Analyst to collaborate with a team focused on the site selection of wind, solar, and energy storage initiatives. This role is characterized by a high degree of autonomy and involves the creation, management, and analysis of data. Candidates should possess a solid understanding of Geographic Information Systems (GIS), cartographic principles, and exhibit strong technical skills. Organizational abilities, effective communication, and the capacity to manage multiple tasks and deadlines are crucial for success in this position. Attention to detail and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision are essential attributes. Proficiency in computer applications and experience with GIS software and database-driven tools are required.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:- Collaborate closely with various departments within the Business Development team, including Project Development, Environmental & Permitting, Meteorology, Real Estate, and Acquisitions & Structuring.
- Provide GIS and cartographic assistance to Business Development, ensuring the production of high-quality maps.
- Create and modify precise GIS data while maintaining spatial databases.
- Conduct research and assess public and private datasets to guide the siting of renewable energy projects.
- Perform both formal and informal investigations into industry competition projects, interconnection requests, ownership interests, and energy markets; analyze environmental and site-specific constraints, zoning and permitting requirements, transmission capacity, and energy pricing to evaluate project status, viability, and economic potential.
- Examine government records and online databases to ascertain land interests.
- Incorporate research findings into GIS and tabular databases for spatial analysis by the competition analyst.
- Prepare deliverables for regular presentations to decision-makers.
- Analyze data submitted by development managers and land acquisition agents to confirm execution authority of contracts.
- Collaborate with software development teams to assist in testing applications that streamline workflows.
- Train new team members on competition analysis processes.
- Engage directly with project developers to address inquiries and facilitate requests.
- Proficient in Esri ArcGIS desktop software, ArcGIS Online, ArcPro, and Portal.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in GIS, utilizing applications such as ArcGIS and related extensions, along with a comprehensive understanding of GIS functionalities.
- Preferred experience in renewable energy development, project evaluation, siting, regional transmission grids, real estate, land records, local and state permitting, environmental studies, and economics.
- Experience in design, development, and debugging is advantageous.
- Bachelor's degree in GIS, Geography, Geology, Environmental Science, Renewable Energy, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
