Lead Environmental Resources Manager

You will take on the role of a Lead Environmental Resources Manager within the Environmental Resources and Assessment Division of the Naval Facilities Engineering Command.
Key Responsibilities
As a leader in this position, you will:
- Oversee funding requests to ensure the division's environmental objectives are met within established budget limits.
- Delegate or evaluate tasks to guarantee that production and quality standards are achieved.
- Conduct thorough environmental quality evaluations of programs to assess compliance with mission goals and regulatory standards.
- Identify training and development needs for team members to enhance productivity and improve the quality of work.
- Innovate new strategies to address challenges in system engineering projects.
- Maintain and update Environmental Program Requirements (EPRs) documentation for submission to the electronic environmental budgeting and planning system.
Qualifications
To qualify for this position, candidates must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or higher in the federal service or comparable experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience should include:
- Applying federal, state, and local environmental regulations to provide expert guidance on various environmental initiatives.
- Securing necessary funding and resources to effectively achieve departmental goals.
- Establishing objectives and regularly reviewing work for adherence to guidelines, policies, and engineering standards.
- Interpreting regulatory materials and determining appropriate actions when multiple options are available.
Educational Requirements
Applicants must fulfill the basic educational criteria set by the Office of Personnel Management, which includes:
- A bachelor's degree or higher in toxicology, biological sciences, natural resource management, or a related field, including specific coursework in chemistry and toxicology.
- A professional engineering degree from an accredited institution, or equivalent experience in a relevant scientific discipline.
Additional Information
This position may involve fieldwork requiring physical stamina and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE). A significant portion of the work will be conducted in an office environment, but there may be opportunities for travel to conduct assessments and oversee project progress. This role is integral to the mission of the Naval Facilities Engineering Command in maintaining environmental integrity and compliance.
