Responsibilities:

  • Provide routine and non-routine specialized basic health care procedures to ensure student safety.
  • Work closely with the principal and teacher to establish practices and procedures.
  • Use judgment and initiative in performing jobs and work with students with medical disabilities.
  • Maintain a healthy and safe environment for students and staff.
  • Administer medication to students as prescribed and maintain organization of the medication drawer.
  • Log, track, and generate daily reports of all visits to the wellness center with reason for the visit.
  • Maintain the inventory of First Aid supplies including classroom care kits and ice bags.
  • Will travel on student field trips as support depending on student health needs.

Requirements:

  • High school graduation or equivalent.
  • Valid California Vocational Nurse's license.
  • One year of nursing experience working with children in a school setting (preferred).
  • CPR/First Aid certified.
  • Bilingual English and Spanish preferred.

Working Conditions:

The work environment is moderate, with occasional moderate noise levels.
