Job Summary:

The Paraeducator will assist teachers in promoting student learning and well-being at Francis Scott Key MS. This role involves working individually and in small groups to reinforce instruction, monitor performance, and support learning. The Paraeducator will also perform various instructional and classroom management supports, as well as related clerical tasks to support teachers and other professional staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist teachers in implementing the instructional program
  • Participate in monitoring and ensuring appropriate student behavior
  • Exhibit patient behavior and work effectively with children, young adults, and staff members
  • Follow written and verbal instructions and perform all required tasks
  • Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
  • Interact with and support students with special needs

Requirements:

  • AA degree, required; Bachelor's degree preferred
  • College coursework in education field, such as behavior management and instructional strategies
  • One year of experience working with students in structured educational situations, preferred
  • Or, two to four years of experience working with children and adolescents, required

Working Conditions:

This is a full-time position with a 10-month working schedule. The Paraeducator will work in a school environment and will be required to interact with students, teachers, and other staff members.
