Job Summary

This role is responsible for supporting mechanical development, qualification, transition to production, and sustaining activities across multiple products, systems, or subsystems. The candidate must possess the ability to complete a technical project independently, mentor and coach other engineers, and work cross-functionally to coordinate resolution of technical issues and implementation of technical improvements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Participate and lead on cross-functional, multi-site development teams that include Systems, Software, Electrical, Hardware, Mechanical, and Specialty Engineers.
  • Become knowledgeable of and fully understand the requirements, specifications, and customer's expectations of system or subsystem, and lead a project team to develop designs to best support them.
  • Interact and communicate clearly (written and oral) with technical management, other professionals, technicians, support personnel, program management, and other customers as required to coordinate, recommend, and confer regarding technical activities and progress.
  • Primary design engineering focal point for resolution of design and manufacturing discrepancies.
  • Perform the design, development, modification, analysis, and documentation of various mechanical systems.
  • Evaluate and recommend design approaches to meet production requirements for new or improved products or services and investigate solutions to product or process problems.
  • Support design completion, fabrication, and modification of mechanical and/or electro-mechanical components, sub-systems, and systems which may include Mechanical Analysis, Aerodynamics/Fluids, Thermal, Fluid Systems, Mechanical Packaging, or others.
  • Use computer-aided design tools to create and update integrated 3D CAD/CAM/CAE mechanical modeling and drawing solutions. Creo CAD experience is preferred, additionally experience with Inventor, SolidWorks, or NX is relevant.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical field and 5+ years of relevant experience.
  • Ability to define and complete technical projects independently.
  • Must possess excellent analytical and communication skills, written and oral.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office products (Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel).
  • Hands-on mechanical assembly or fabrication experience preferred (professional or hobby).
