About the Role
As a Commissioning Engineer at Amazon Data Services, Inc., you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the operational integrity of our data center infrastructure. Your expertise will be crucial in overseeing the testing and validation of electrical and mechanical systems that are essential for maintaining the high standards of our facilities.
Key Responsibilities
Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Conducting thorough reviews of design documentation and leading Factory Witness Testing (FWT).
- Managing third-party commissioning vendors to perform onsite pre-functional, functional, and integrated systems testing.
- Taking ownership of project outcomes by addressing technical challenges and adapting to dynamic schedules.
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and quality standards.
- Providing multi-disciplinary input for project scheduling, test script development, and planning.
- Conducting comprehensive audits during commissioning to ensure adherence to established protocols.
- Delivering detailed weekly reports on project status and lessons learned to enhance our commissioning processes.
Physical and Travel Requirements
This role requires the ability to:
- Navigate uneven terrain and work at heights.
- Lift and move objects weighing up to 49 pounds and participate in group lifts for heavier items.
- Work extended shifts, including nights and weekends, as necessary.
- Travel domestically and internationally for up to 20% of the year.

The AWS Data Center Commissioning Team is composed of experienced professionals from various engineering disciplines. We are dedicated to delivering high-quality infrastructure while maintaining transparency and identifying opportunities for improvement.
Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you should possess:
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in mission-critical facilities or data center infrastructure.
- A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- At least 3 years of commissioning experience.
- Relevant certifications or training in NETA, ASHRAE, or similar commissioning education.
