Job Title: Local Driver

At Suddath Companies, we are seeking a skilled Local Driver to join our team. As a Local Driver, you will be responsible for the safe and timely operation of our motor vehicles, transporting service crew members and cargo.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct pre-trip inspections of vehicles, ensuring all necessary repairs and replacements are made prior to departure.
  • Operate vehicles safely, adhering to company policies, road conditions, and legal guidelines.
  • Confirm job expectations, vehicle assignments, and routing with Dispatch.
  • Assure all necessary paperwork, equipment, and materials are loaded before leaving the yard.
  • Protectively pad and wrap items for loading in vehicles and containers, as specified in QLT guidelines.
  • Identify and separate "Non-Allowables" and items needing special crating/uncrating by a 3rd party.
  • Assist with assembly and disassembly of furniture and fixtures as directed by the Crew Leader.
Requirements:
  • Valid CDL driver's license.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); one to two years related experience and/or training.
  • Previous experience in commercial and household goods moving preferred.
Work Environment:

The Local Driver will be regularly exposed to outside weather conditions and will be required to drive on freeways in major metropolitan cities, in congested central business districts, and in populous residential areas with narrow streets.
