Job Title: Police Officer

Northwest Missouri State University is seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Police Officer to join our team. As a Police Officer, you will be responsible for enforcing laws and regulations, providing emergency response, and maintaining a safe and secure environment for our students, faculty, and staff.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Enforce University policies, municipal, state, and federal laws and statues
  • Provide emergency response and assistance to the public
  • Patrol University-owned property and respond to calls for service
  • Investigate crimes and incidents, and prepare reports
  • Collaborate with other law enforcement agencies and University departments to ensure a safe and secure environment
  • Provide information and assistance to the public, and communicate effectively with diverse groups
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Two years' experience in a customer-oriented field
  • Ability to receive and maintain a Missouri Driver's License and successfully complete a criminal background check
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 2 years college/university
  • Missouri Peace Officer Certification or a Peace Officer Certification from a compact state
  • 1 year's experience as a Peace Officer
  • Knowledge of a University environment, specifically Northwest Missouri State University campus
Working Conditions:

This position works outdoors/indoors during inclement weather, including nights, weekends, and holidays. The Police Officer will be required to work a variety of shifts, including evenings and overnights.

Equipment/Materials Used:

The Police Officer will operate office equipment, specialized law enforcement equipment, radios, police vehicles, and weapons.

Typical Physical Demands:

The Police Officer will be required to perform physical tasks, including running, walking, crouching, or crawling during emergency operations. The position requires mobility, strength, dexterity, balance, coordination, and endurance.
