Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Cook Supervisor to join our team at the Justice, Bureau of Prisons/Federal Prison System. As a Cook Supervisor, you will be responsible for overseeing the food service operations in our institution, ensuring that meals are prepared and served in a safe and sanitary environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise a team of cooks and kitchen staff to ensure that meals are prepared and served on time and to a high standard.
  • Develop and implement menus that meet the dietary needs of our inmates and staff.
  • Ensure that all food handling and preparation procedures are followed to prevent foodborne illness.
  • Monitor and control food costs to ensure that they are within budget.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure that food service operations are integrated with other institutional functions.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, such as culinary arts or food service management.
  • At least 2 years of experience in a supervisory role in a food service setting.
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation procedures.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and make decisions quickly.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills.
Working Conditions

This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and to make decisions quickly. The Cook Supervisor will be required to work a variety of shifts, including evenings and weekends.
