Job Summary

This role is a key member of our finance business support group, providing accounting support directly to project teams. The successful candidate will be responsible for project setup, invoicing, and collections, as well as reviewing contracts, purchase orders, work orders, and task orders before invoicing.

Responsibilities
  • Set up projects in DeltekVantagepoint, assisting project managers in determining the appropriate project work breakdown structure as needed.
  • Review contracts, purchase orders, work orders, and task orders before invoicing.
  • Prepare and send invoices to clients in accordance with Barr's requirements and contractual obligations.
  • Preview project reports with project managers to determine if corrective actions need to be taken before invoice preparation.
  • Prepare and run project reports from DeltekVantagepoint, analyzing differences between budgets and actual spending.
  • Work closely with project managers to ensure timely collection of outstanding receivables and coordinating with clients to collect outstanding receivables.
  • Resolve accounting issues with client accounting or contacting staff when necessary.
  • Analyze and troubleshoot issues as needed.
Requirements
  • Two years of related experience.
  • Working knowledge of at least one accounting software package.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office programs, especially Excel.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to troubleshoot issues that arise.
  • Ability to work both independently and on a team to meet client, team, and project needs.
  • Effective task management and self-initiative with a high attention to detail.
  • Ability to collaborate with multiple people in a fast-paced, client-centric environment.
  • Ability to periodically adjust personal schedule to meet project needs.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship from Barr, now or in the future.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate degree in accounting, business administration, or a related field.
  • Experience using DeltekVision and/or Vantagepoint.
  • Experience with advanced functions of Excel such as PivotTables and VLookups.
  • Experience in multi-currency and multi-company environments.

A hybrid work arrangement may be considered for this position. A hybrid work arrangement refers to splitting time worked between a Barr office and a home office. This position can be based out of Barr's Ann Arbor, Duluth, Hibbing, Grand Rapids, or Minneapolis offices.
