Job Summary

As a Paramedic 1, you will administer pre-hospital care to sick or injured persons, demonstrating proficiency and completion of each EMT level function. You will work in a fast-paced environment, providing advanced and basic pre-hospital emergency care, maintaining equipment, and participating in training and orientation of new employees.

Responsibilities
  • Administer advanced and basic pre-hospital emergency care to sick or injured persons.
  • Maintain equipment for constant state of readiness.
  • Participate in orientation and training of new employees.
  • Participate in training of students who perform practical rotations through the EMS system.
  • Assist Emergency Room staff with daily operations or administration of care.
  • Recommend changes to lead staff to ensure smooth operation of the EMS system.
  • Maintain crew quarters.
  • Have successfully completed twenty Advanced Life Support Calls while riding third with an approved Paramedic Preceptor/Mentor.
  • Perform all ALS patient interviews, skills, and documentation while under direct supervision of a preceptor.
  • Complete required ALS clinical observation forms.
  • Periodically review ALS progress report with quality assurance and paramedic preceptor.
  • Continually prepare for upgrade to Paramedic 1 level B.
  • Fulfill all other EMS contractual obligations.
  • Perform at least 2 intubations.
  • Ride third with an approved preceptor for at least twenty ALS calls.
  • Fulfill all sponsor hospital medical control and requirements.
  • Fulfill all compliance responsibilities related to the position and perform all other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • High School graduate.
  • Minimum two years' experience.
  • CT Licensed Paramedic.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS).
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
  • Valid Driver's License.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Science.
  • AHA BLS.
  • PHTLS/ITLS.
  • TECC/TCCC.
  • NRP.
Working Conditions

This position requires significant manual skills, motor coordination, and finger dexterity. It also involves significant occupational risk and exposure to dirt, odors, noise, human waste, etc.
