Your Responsibilities:


The Biomedical Field Service Technician is responsible for planning, scheduling, coordinating, and executing service tasks at customer sites across a multi-state area.

This role involves direct interaction with end-user clients, requiring independent work without onsite supervision.

Key tasks include the installation, maintenance, validation, and troubleshooting of complex scientific instruments owned by customers.


Core Duties:
Conduct service operations at customer locations, which include repairs, installations, preventive maintenance, and various validation services on sophisticated scientific equipment.
Operate autonomously without direct oversight or immediate access to technical assistance in all scenarios.

Organize and prioritize service jobs, which involves coordinating travel, liaising with customers and sales teams, and ensuring the availability of necessary parts, tools, and materials at job sites.

Complete various documentation, including service reports, validation records, expense accounts, inventory logs, and other required reports.
Maintain updates in relevant systems and databases.
Manage inventory of parts and a company-sponsored expense account.
Frequent travel is necessary, including regular overnight domestic and international trips.

Qualifications:

A minimum of an associate degree in a technical or mechanical field, or equivalent military technical training, along with at least 2 years of relevant experience in servicing complex instruments in the field; or a suitable combination of education and experience.

Comfort with potentially biohazardous materials is essential, and a willingness to travel at least 50% of the time is required.

A valid driver's license, proof of insurance/insurability, and the ability to obtain necessary clearance for restricted government accounts are mandatory.


Physical Requirements:

While executing job duties, the employee is frequently required to walk, use hands for manipulation, reach with arms, and communicate verbally.

The employee must be able to stand, climb, balance, and perform actions such as stooping, kneeling, and crouching. Occasionally, the employee may need to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds independently or up to 80 pounds with assistance.

Specific vision capabilities required for this position include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Multitasking and maintaining attention to detail in a fast-paced environment are essential.


Work Environment:


The characteristics of the work environment described here are representative of those an employee may encounter while performing the essential functions of this position.

This role involves working in various facilities, with approximately half of the time spent in a climate-controlled office environment. Mobility to visit customer sites is necessary. Due to travel demands, exposure to natural elements may occur. The handling of research and clinical equipment is part of this job, requiring adherence to strict standard operating procedures and the use of personal protective equipment.
