Compensation: $12.26- $15.32/hour.

About the Role:

The Retail Sales Associate role involves a regular schedule as part of daily operations. This position assists customers in donating, selecting, and purchasing items; operates and maintains a cash register; addresses customer inquiries; ensures the cleanliness and organization of store displays; and safeguards store merchandise and cash register.

The Sorting Room responsibilities include receiving, sorting, pricing, and preparing donated items for display; assessing the suitability and pricing of items based on established criteria; and helping maintain a clean and orderly warehouse area.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Facilitates customer purchases by processing sales through a cash register; handles cash transactions, counts change, and issues receipts; packages purchased items; balances the cash drawer and performs routine register print-outs; prepares bank deposits; ensures the security and accountability of all cash register funds and sales records according to established procedures.
  • Maintains various sales records, tax forms, and social service vouchers; generates routine sales reports as required.
  • Answers the store phone in a polite and professional manner; assists customers by addressing inquiries and providing directions or general information; may schedule and document donation pickups.
  • Explains store policies to customers and addresses questions regarding pricing and purchasing; ensures all customers have a positive shopping experience.
  • Receives, inspects, and sorts donated items such as clothing, footwear, household goods, and miscellaneous items according to category and condition.
  • Selects suitable items for store display and distributes them to the appropriate area for further sorting or pricing, discarding items as per established guidelines.
  • Tags items with coded tickets and/or prices according to established procedures.
  • Hangs clothing on hangers and organizes them on racks.
  • Prepares unsuitable clothing for disposal.
  • Lifts and transports items to designated areas for further processing, storage, or display in the store.
  • Keeps the warehouse area clean and organized; cleans floors, tables, and workspaces.
What We Seek:
  • High School diploma or G.E.D., with preferred experience in a retail environment; or any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: The role requires the ability to lift, carry, and/or push/pull heavy materials, supplies, and equipment frequently. Heavy mobility duties typically involve a combination of standing, walking, climbing, bending, reaching, or transporting merchandise, with fewer periods of sitting.
