Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Respiratory Care Supervisor to join our team at Lifespan. As a key member of our respiratory care department, you will be responsible for overseeing the work of respiratory care practitioners and equipment technicians, ensuring the delivery of high-quality respiratory care services to our patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the work of subordinates to ensure patient needs are met and department equipment and supplies are maintained properly.
  • Prepare department work schedules, assign work, and reassign priorities as necessary.
  • Orient and train new personnel, evaluate clinical performance, and provide feedback and guidance.
  • Recommend changes in status, including promotions and terminations, and ensure compliance with union contract language.
  • Provide technical resource assistance, spot-check patient charts, and suggest alternatives or modified procedures as needed.
  • Confer with physicians, nurses, and other members of the patient care team to resolve operational concerns and improve patient care.
  • Maintain records, including quality assurance statistics, productivity statistics, and incident reports.
  • Participate in departmental and hospital meetings, committees, and in-service education programs.
Requirements
  • Completion of an Associate Degree in Respiratory Therapy from an AMA-approved program.
  • Certification required; registration preferred.
  • Bachelor's Degree in a related science or management field.
  • Supervisory skills to direct, coordinate, and evaluate the work of subordinate professional and technical staff.
  • Ability to operate all respiratory care equipment and move equipment and position patients as needed.
  • Thorough knowledge of respiratory care tests and treatments for patients of all ages and related hospital and regulatory practices and standards.
  • Ability to supervise and evaluate the work of others, as well as provide technical resource assistance and support.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements

This role requires working in a patient care environment, interacting with multiple levels of hospital personnel, and being exposed to infectious diseases. However, the chance of injury or illness is minimized with adherence to established safety precautions.

Supervisory Responsibility

This role has supervisory responsibility for up to 30 FTEs.
